Qatar Development Bank joins Turkeybuild Istanbul 2019

Trade relations in the construction sector between Turkey and Qatar are becoming ever stronger, with 2018 seeing a rise of 129% in building materials exports from Turkey to Qatar.

This figure includes astounding statistics including a 9064% increase in exports of electricity, water and gas meters, a 6849% increase in cement exports, and a 911% increase in exports of bricks and tiles.

Qatar’s building sector is currently riding high as the country prepares for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and much of the contracting work has been taken up by Turkish firms. While in 2017, Turkish firms carried out contracting work in Qatar worth $496 million, in 2018 that rose to $2 billion.

Qatar is also investing heavily into the Turkish economy, reaching $19 billion in 2018.

The Qatar Development Bank will be at Yapi Turkeybuild Istanbul this June at the Qatari Pavilion to present its opportunities alongside several products and materials including aluminium, steel, pipes and tubes, switchgears, electrical cables, LED lighting, fabricated wood and plastics.

We spoke to a representative of the Qatar Development Bank to find out more about what to expect from them at Turkeybuild Istanbul 2019.

Could you give us an overview of your activities and objectives?

The Qatar Development Bank is 100% owned by the Government of the State of Qatar, with the main objective to contribute to the development and diversification of the economic and industrial investments of the country. QDB has aligned its strategy to the Qatar National Vision 2030 to promote and facilitate the development and growth of the private sector in core economic sectors that will result in long-term socio-economic benefits to the people of Qatar.

Why did you decide to exhibit at Turkeybuild Istanbul?

Turkeybuild Istanbul is an international building materials and technologies exhibition providing world-class services through its exhibition areas, the products and services on show, and its domestic and international exhibitors, all of which expand, grow and increase year by year.

What are your aims for the show and what can we expect from the Qatari Pavilion?

We are hoping to open new markets for Qatari manufacturers, introduce Made in Qatar products to the world, and get these products well known, in addition to increase the possibilities of exporting Qatari products.
