Zafer Baysal is a senior vice president at Amstar and is responsible for various asset management and fundraising initiatives for Amstar’s investments in Turkey as country manager for Turkey.
Mr. Baysal has over 27 years of real estate and financial services experience in Turkey and Eastern Europe. Prior to joining Amstar in July 2013, Mr. Baysal was an executive board member of Renaissance Holding and CEO in Renaissance Real Estate Investment Co. Inc. Prior to joining Renaissance in 2006, Mr. Baysal was the CFO of Bayındır Holding in Turkey and before that he was the President and CEO of one of the group banks for 4 years before which he was an Executive Vice President in the parent bank of the group “Bayındırbank”. He joined Bayındırbank in 1997 after Interbank where he was Vice President and Area Manager in Financial Institutions and Correspondent Banking Department responsible from Middle East, North Africa, Russia and Far East. Mr. Baysal has stated his banking career in Interbank as a Management Trainee after graduation from his MBA program.
Mr. Baysal received his undergraduate degree from TED Ankara College, his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University and an MBA from Bilkent University, in Ankara, Turkey.
Mr. Baysal has lectured in the Banks Association of Turkey for 4 years on Correspondent Banking and International Payment Systems and Syndication Credits.
Mr. Baysal is a jury member in the Sign of the City Awards for 3 years which selects the outstanding real estate projects (already developed and under development) in Turkey under the auspices of the mainstream newspaper Hürriyet.
Mr. Baysal represented Renaissance Group in Turkey’s Trade Council of Shopping Centers and Retailers (AMPD) as Vice Chairman, Board Member and President of the Shopping Centers Group for 8 years until that Association was converted into a Federation in 2013.
Mr. Baysal is a Chairman of Urban Land Institution Turkey and also a Member of the Advisory Board of GYODER(The Association of Real Estate and Real Estate Investment Companies).
