Serdar Çelik was born in 1979 in Istanbul. He completed his primary school education at Beylerbeyi Primary School and secondary & high school education at Eyüboğlu High School. He graduated from Yıldız Technical University and received his master’s degree at Istanbul Technical University Department of Mechanical Engineering. He did his doctorate at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He has been serving as a lecturer at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville since 2007. Among Çelik’s field of research is energy, green roofs, sustainable buildings and alternative cooling technologies. In 2017, Çelik received the Paul Simon award which is known as the most prestigious award given by Southern Illinois University.
