As one of the first female entrepreneurs in Turkish Renewable Energy Sector, Sedef Budak has crowned the last 12 years of her 19-year professional life as a commercial and technical consultant in Wind and Solar Energy.
Having graduated from Bilkent University Department of Tourism Management, Budak worked in Istanbul, London and Cairo between 2000 and 2007. She managed supply chains for international fashion and retail brands.
In the same period, she worked in various voluntary positions at International Rotary, Region 2420, Topkapı Rotaract club and served as the president between 2005 and 2006. Having managed large-volume purchases at a young age, Budak decided to establish her own business in 2007 in line with her interest in the environment and clean energy technologies and started working for imports of foreign technologies to the Turkish Renewable Energy Sector with the SECRET POWER brand.
Budak obtained the representation of technology providers in the Far East and Europe and managed technical equipment and EPC tenders in Turkey between 2007 and 2012 for power plants amounting up to more than 11,000 MW.
She led the winning of 100 MW HES, 190 MW RES and GES tenders.
She took part in the development of the 300 MW GES project and the transfer transactions for the license tender.
She provided consulting services to foreign investors for wind turbine blades, generators and panel production facilities.
Working as the Turkish Representative and Supervisor of the independent Italian technical consulting company Windfor S.R.L since 2012, Budak has been preparing reports of site inspections, administrative and commercial inspections, financial inspection and investment suitability for wind and solar energy plants.
In cooperation with WINDFOR, she has provided technical consulting services for wind energy plants of more than 1500 MW and solar energy plants of more than 200 MW in Turkey.
She continues to work as a technical consultant for renewable energy investments of Garanti, Akbank and Aklease.
On October 25, 2017, she received a thank you plaque by AKBANK T.A.Ş on behalf of WINDFOR for her independent technical consulting services to the 49 MW GES project worth 44.5 million dollars financed with a payback period of six years. The project is the first major non-licensed investment in Turkey.
In 2018, she founded the “Turkish Women in Renewables & Energy” group to increase the employment of women in energy, empower them and have them access each other. She continues to serve as the Founding President of the group.
She gave guest lectures on Renewable Energy Technologies and Power Plant Investment at ITU, Amasya University and Yalova University.
